According to Cirium 84.08% of Icelandair’s nearly 4,000 flights across the country in June arrived on time

Icelandair has come out on top as Europe’s most punctual airline.

According to Cirium, a company that provides aviation data, 84.08% of Icelandair’s nearly 4,000 flights across the country in June arrived on time. This milestone comes on the heels of an even better month in May, during which the airline’s punctuality rate was 84.36%. Icelandair’s main hub at Keflavik International Airport (KEF) turned in an OTP (on time performance) of 74.52%.

We know punctuality is one of the most important factors for our customers, so we are very pleased to see Icelandair coming out as the most punctual airline in Europe at present,” said Bogi Nils Bogason, Icelandair president and CEO. “This is all thanks to a strong focus and the outstanding work of the team. We are proud to see this hard work paid off, which has led to an increase in positive feedback in passenger experience surveys, and also contributes to lower operating costs for the airline.

In June, Icelandair transported 514,000 passengers, with a load factor of 83%. Year to date, the airline has transported two million passengers, 7% more than last year, with a growing demand seen for passengers to use Iceland as a stopover destination between Europe and North America.

This year has seen three new route launches for Icelandair: The Faroe Islands, Halifax and Pittsburgh. Its route network now includes 50 destinations, making the current summer schedule the largest in the company’s history. Icelandair will operate up to 65 departures per day from Keflavik to 50 destinations as well as three domestic destinations from Reykjavik.
