News / Here’s why Sandals 2.0 in Jamaica will be worth the wait
Three resorts are coming back better than ever with brand new room concepts, new dining venues and more, all to the tune of US$200 million

It’s clear from the renderings that the ʻSandals 2.0’ renovations for Sandals Montego Bay, Sandals Caribbean Cay (formerly Sandals Royal Caribbean) and Sandals South Coast will make the reopenings for these popular properties worth the wait.
Shuttered since October 2025 after Jamaica’s hit from Hurricane Melissa, with new reopening dates announced in March 2026, the three resorts are coming back better than ever with brand new room concepts, new dining venues and more, all to the tune of US$200 million.
Here’s a look …
Sandals Montego Bay
Reopening date: December 18, 2026
A transformed welcome experience sets the tone at the 255-room flagship property, with a lobby design framed by views of the Caribbean Sea. A completely redesigned main pool will serve as the social heart of the resort, complete with new swim-up accommodations and ocean-view suites. Culinary additions include the arrival of Buccan in its first waterfront setting in Jamaica, serving island favourites cooked over an open flame, as well as Jamaica’s first Scrimshaw seafood restaurant.
Bay Roc Rum Club, a signature rum experience, features hand-painted murals, memorabilia and creative cocktails. The space is inspired by the property’s origins as Bay Roc Hotel & Villas and the rise of Caribbean music. Also at Sandals Montego Bay, the Caribbean’s first-ever swim-up bar is part of Parisol Beach Club, where the original bricks, carved with decades of guest names, have been preserved as a tribute to the resort’s history.
Sandals Caribbean Cay
Reopening date: December 18, 2026
The newly rechristened Sandals Caribbean Cay is expanding with 84 new rooms, bringing the total room count to 291. New room categories include Sandals’ SkyPool Suites overlooking the ocean, new Swim-up Suites and coming in June 2027, new Oceanview Butler Suites.
New dining venues include Suppa, a homegrown supper-style restaurant featuring Jamaican comfort food, and the Keynote Rum Bar. Heart & Sol serves grab-and-go juices, sandwiches and nourishing bowls. Parisol Beach Club is coming to the resortʻs private island, Sandals Cay. Guests can enjoy the new dining venue Parisol or grab a bite at the Jerk Shack. Additional resort highlights include a new fitness centre with ocean views and Overwater Butler Villas set above the waters of Sandals Cay.
Sandals South Coast
Reopening date: November 18, 2026
The 380-room Sandals South Coast, surrounded by a 500-acre nature preserve, is bringing back its iconic Overwater Butler Villas with refreshed interiors. The brand’s first-ever Beachfront Club Two Queen Junior Suites, ideal for groups traveling together, will also make their debut.
BLŪM, serving Jamaica’s Blue Mountain coffee alongside artisanal pastries and light bites, and Butch’s Island Chop House, making its debut on Jamaica’s south coast with a dedicated martini bar, will star at Sandals South Coast along with a new rum bar, which will become the fourth in the island’s collection.
