Disney Cruise Line is marking a milestone with its latest ship, Disney Believe.

A new social media post from the cruise line – “The Disney Believe is taking shape!” – included pics of the new ship’s first ‘gigablock’ floating out from shipbuilder Meyer-Werft in Germany over the weekend.  

Once the sections, which can weigh over 31,000 tons, are finished, they’re welded together like puzzle pieces to complete the ship. Each gigablock is built complete with walls, plumbing and wiring.

As Disney Cruise Line outlines on the DisneyParksBlog, the now-built first section contains the midship, home to the Grand Hall. The next gigablock to be constructed will be the forward portion, followed by the aft.

Disney Believe will be the fourth ship in the cruise line’s Wish class, following the Disney Wish, Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny.

The 144,000-ton ship will accommodate up to 4,000 passengers in 1,254 staterooms. New venues and entertainment will draw inspiration from Disney films including Encanto, Frozen, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Moana and The Little Mermaid.

As announced last month, after Disney Believe’s launch in late 2027, Disney Cruise Line will debut its as-yet-unnamed 11th and 12th ships in 2029, and a 13th ship in 2030. These three new ships will introduce an entirely new class to the Disney Cruise Line fleet.
