Wizz Air continues to meet growing demand for budget-friendly travel

Wizz Air, Romania’s largest airline, has announced further expansion of its Timisoara base by allocating a third aircraft in the winter season of 2025, marking a total of 40 overall in Romania. Timisoara is of crucial importance to Wizz Air, and the company is happy to grow its capacity from the city, adding more than 198 thousand new seats this next winter season, an increase of 62% compared to the last winter. The base will operate 20 routes to 9 countries, as well as increase frequency on three existing routes. Wizz Air continues to offer more affordable travel options, meeting the growing demand for budget-friendly flights.

This addition to the Romanian fleet in the 2025 winter season marks a significant step forward for Wizz Air’s operations. The aircraft will enhance connectivity from Timisoara by enabling the launch of five routes. Starting from October 2025, passengers can fly from Timisoara to Larnaca, Nuremberg, Basel, Frankfurt Hahn and Naples (prices start from EUR 14.99 or RON 79*, already on sale on wizzair.com and the airline’s official app) as well. Wizz Air will also increase frequency of its flights to Bari, Baden-Baden and Dortmund, all three being served four times per week starting from October 2025.

Additionally, the new route from Brasov to Nuremberg will start operating in October 2025 as well, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. This comes in just a month since the previous route announcement from Brasov, with flights to Naples taking off the same month. In the next winter season, Wizz Air will provide passengers with direct connections to five destinations from Brasov Ghimbav International Airport: Budapest, Dortmund, London Luton, Naples and Nuremberg.

Since the start of its Romanian operations in 2006, Wizz Air has steadily increased its investment, recognizing the country as a pivotal market. Currently, the airline operates 182 routes from 13 Romanian airports, connecting passengers to 71 destinations across 24 countries. Over the past 18 years, Wizz Air has established seven operational bases in Bucharest Baneasa, Bucharest Otopeni, Cluj-Napoca, Craiova, Iasi, Sibiu and Timisoara. The airline employs almost 1,500 people in Romania.
