The Meliá Hotels International performance and commitment to ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) issues has once again been rewarded, on this occasion with its certification as a Socially Responsible Company in Mexico. Awarded by the Mexican Center for Philanthropy and the Alliance for Corporate Social Responsibility, SRC certification is considered highly prestigious in Mexico and Latin America due to its thorough and evidence-based assessment process.

SRC certification recognizes the efforts made by companies in Mexico to voluntarily and publicly assume a commitment to responsible management, to strive for constant improvement, and to make responsible management an integral part of their corporate culture and business strategy. Melia Hotels International is the second most sustainable hotel company in the world and number one in Europe according to the Corporate Sustainability Assessment made by S&P Global 2022, and continues to strengthen its position as a responsible company both on a global level and in each of the different destinations in which it operates.

This certification is a further endorsement of Meliá's strategic priority to integrate ESG criteria into its business model. The hotel company is implementing a responsible management business model adapted to the different locations in which it operates and with the aim of achieving its 2030 vision: to become a company that is also recognized for its commitment to responsibility and sustainability.

The four areas evaluated during the certification process cover all the key areas for companies committed to ESG: ethics and corporate governance, quality of life in the company, connection and commitment to the community, and the preservation of the natural environment. After a thorough evaluation by a committee of experts, the rating achieved by Meliá Hotels International in each of the four areas was classified as outstanding. The hotel company thus becomes one of the leading major companies in regard to corporate responsibility in Mexico.

In addition to the global vision of the Meliá Hotels International sustainability strategy, the hotel company encourages the development of activities designed to have a positive impact in each of the destinations where it operates. The hotel company also currently boasts Top Employer certification, with a strong performance in areas such as Training, Commitment, Ethics & Integrity, Corporate Values and Change Management.
